ToxicityTesting

How We Asses Patients in Our Office:

In our office we use:

  1. Blood test that measures Cellular Inflammation
  2. 24 Hour Urinalysis that measures Toxicity of the Gut.
  3. Bone Density Tests
  4. Physical Examination: orthopedic/neurological testing
  5. X-Rays, MRI or CT if needed

Blood Test

What is Cellular Inflammation?

People (including virtually all physicians) are constantly confused about what cellular inflammation is. So I decided to take the opportunity to explain the concept in more detail.

There are two types of inflammation. The first type is classical inflammation, which generates the inflammatory response we associate with pain such as, heat, redness, swelling, pain, and eventually loss of organ function. The other type is cellular inflammation, which is below the perception of pain. Cellular inflammation is the initiating cause of chronic disease because it disrupts hormonal signaling networks throughout the body.(Zone Diagnostics)

Clinical Measurement of Cellular Inflammation

Since cellular inflammation is confined to the cell itself, there are few blood markers that can be used to
directly measure the levels of systemic cellular inflammation in a cell. However, the AA/EPA ratio in the blood appears to be a precise and reproducible marker of the levels of the same ratio of these essential fatty acids in the cell membrane. (Zone Diagnostics)

Urine Test

The 24-hour Urine Analysis

The 24-hour Urine Analysis reflects a patient’s ability to maintain nutritional and metabolic homeostasis. The results of a 24-hour urinalysis reflect how the patient’s body handles dietary intake throughout an entire day and night, not available through a ‘spot’ urine or blood analysis. The automated health history questionnaire, and dietary nutritional supplements being recommended are based on 24-hour urinalysis, and a detailed health history from each of the providers patients. The purpose of these recommendations is to assist providers in evaluating their patients for nutritional deficiencies and resulting body chemistry imbalances, and provide high quality dietary nutritional supplements that contain ingredients shown in current medical literature to support the body relative to their patient’s subnormal laboratory analysis findings, and their personal health history.

There are six panels on the 24-Hour Urine Analysis:

 1. Indican

Excessive indican levels are caused by poor digestion, constipation, exposure to excessive chemicals in the water, food, air, or drugs, or yeast/candida, parasites or abnormal flora in the gut and can be recognized in the urine analysis. Partially digested food may directly enter the blood, causing allergic food reactions. Undigested food may never be utilized by the body, instead it may decompose (rot) in the colon producing highly toxic substances which are then reabsorbed into the blood. This toxicity can present symptoms ranging from gas, diarrhea, constipation, bad breath, bloating, weight gain, allergies, asthma, arthritis, headaches, skin conditions, nervous system problems, and colon toxicity which are directly associated with low back pain and sciatica.

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Supporting the body’s natural digestive functions. Digestive Support. A special enzyme formula combined with phyto-therapeutic herbs and probiotics to support optimal digestion and assimilation of food. This formula provides relief from heartburn, nausea, burping, upset stomach, acid indigestion, diarrhea, gastritis, and ulcerative conditions related to nutritional deficiencies and/or biochemical imbalances. Neutralizes excess stomach acid, helps with digestion, restores appetite. It is suitable for even the most sensitive digestive systems and helps support the body's natural ph balance.

 2. Supporting liver and gall bladder functions. Liver Support. A special flavonoid-rich complex designed specifically for detoxifying the body by supporting liver and gall bladder functions. Recommended for those who: eat poorly, consume alcohol or tobacco products, are exposed to environmental toxins, have been using medications/drugs, are overweight, or have a history of liver or gall bladder problems.

2. Calcium

Any calcium level below normal shows the severity of deficiency. The optimal levels and the correct ratio of calcium and magnesium are needed to support the skeletal, muscular, and nervous system. An imbalance in either can create anxiety, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, muscle tension, spasms, cramps, low back pain, constipation, hypertension, or heart palpitations.

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Restoring Normal Urine Calcium Levels. Liquid Calcium & Magnesium Support. A synergistic combination of six sources of liquid Calcium, three sources of liquid magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K, formulated for optimal bio-availability. Research has shown that ingredients in this formula helps prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) and may help lower blood pressure. Liquid in a softgel.

 3. Vitamin C

Optimal levels of vitamin C are needed in maintaining healthy immune system, connective tissue, adrenal glands, red blood cells and capillary walls. Vitamin C deficiency can cause bruising, heart disease, joint pain, stiffness, gum disorders, lowered resistance to infections, slow healing of wounds and fractures, impaired digestion, shortness of breath, adrenal insufficiency, sore throat, laryngitis, tonsillitis, and scurvy, weakness, aching joints, loss of bone mass, and tissue and collagen disorders.

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Restoring Normal Urine Vitamin C and Antioxidant Levels. Physician’s Rx Daily Multiple. A comprehensive synergistic complex of vitamin & mineral anti-oxidants plus B complex-energy enhancers, micro & macro-minerals & electrolytes with lipotrophic factors, enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics, Immune boosting herbal extracts & powerful phyto-nutrients. This formula provides 250 mg of Vitamin C per day, and 30 other antioxidant nutrients, many of which are food-based.

 4. Chloride Electrolyte

A deficiency in electrolytes can cause low energy, significant stress in brain, nerve and muscular function. A deficiency in electrolytes can also cause thyroid stress creating thickening and coarsening of the skin and other body tissues, obesity, hair loss, sensitivity to cold, muscle weakness, mental dullness, circulation problems such as cold hands and feet, edema, bruising, hematoma, and increase in blood lipids and cholesterol. Electrolyte deficiencies increase edema, bloating, water retention and even cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Restoring Trace Mineral and Electrolyte balance and sufficiency. Concentrated Liquid Ionic Mineral Support. Highly bio-available ionic trace minerals and electrolytes, used to support optimal mineral-electrolyte sufficiency.

 5. Calcium Oxylate

This panel shows how well the body digests fat. Abnormal results show poor digestion of fats and fat-soluble vitamins and a deficiency of lipase enzymes. People deficient in lipase enzymes have a tendency towards high cholesterol, high triglycerides, difficulty losing weight, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Poor digestion of fats can cause a deficiency in essential fatty acids (EFA's). EFA's take lubrication and moisture to the skin, preventing dryness; joints, preventing inflammation; and cardiovascular system, lowering risk factors for heart disease. EFA's bind oxygen to hemoglobin increasing oxygenation and circulation, which decreases cold hands and feet.

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Improving essential fatty acid and fat-soluble vitamin assimilation and utilization. Essential Fatty Acids Support. A phyto-therapeutic combination of synergistic essential fatty acid nutrients, Omegas 3, Omega 6, and mixed vitamin E tocopherols to help support the digestion of fats and lipids, and support healthy cardiovascular function and circulation, healthy cartilage and joint function, healthy nervous function, and healthy skin and hair. Liquid in a softgel.

 2. Supporting liver and gall bladder functions. Liver Support. A special flavonoid-rich complex designed specifically for detoxifying the body by supporting liver and gall bladder functions. Recommended for those who: eat poorly, consume alcohol or tobacco products, are exposed to environmental toxins, have been using medications/drugs, are overweight, or have a history of liver, gall bladder or skin problems.

 6. NPN Urochrome

Abnormal results show catabolism: muscle protein breakdown or hypoglycemia, which is due to an inability to digest protein adequately or a deficiency in intake of proteins.

 Nutritional Solution:

 1. Improving assimilation and utilization of proteins (amino acids). The Amino Acid Support formula provides a balanced formula of 15 L-crystalline amino acids, requiring no preliminary digestion, and synergistic vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
